AR log book Flashcards
Spoke (cross) question
Usually involves direction of the spoke, or something related to the shapes surrounding it.
If you can’t get the question/rule
Zoom out with perspective, decide which image fits in best just based on its looks, then flag (usually works well)
ALSO
The rule that you might end up making might not exactly be identical to the suggested - can still be right and get you 5/5 marks.
Arrangement distractor
Shading often used to distract you in arrangement
Common conditional
Number of shapes, intersections, sides in relation to other components.
Rules can be so much simpler than perceived
E.g. Rather than counting sides or arrangement of shapes, could be that there is consistently a fixed number of shapes present/ 2 identical shapes always present.
Method for isolating distractors and possible rules.
Similarity within a set = possible rule & similarity between sets = distractor.
Difference within a set = distractor & Difference between sets = possible rules.
Misunderstood Rules
1.Twice as many intersections as non-circular shapes:
YOU CAN CHECK IF A SHAPE IS A DISTRACTOR IF NO INTERSECTIONS ON A SQUARE WHERE ONLY THAT PARTICULAR SHAPE IS PRESENT.
2.Arrow pointing to side that has 2 shapes and all shapes have odd number of sides.
Common Rules regarding shapes
Total number present and total number of sides.
HOWEVER, THIS IS ALMOST DEFINATELY TIED TO ANOTHER RULE. E.g. odd total number and total number of white shape = number of striped shapes present.
