Overstimulating a short issue and exploding it in an overexaggerated way.
USS Maine
A ship in Cuba during the Spanish American war and was blown up randomly in the middle of the night and it sparked conspiracy on who did it and why.
Spanish-American War
Was sparked by the explosion of the USS Maine and also so then America could annex both Cuba and The Philippines, abolishing them of Spanish rule.
De Lome Letter
Criticized President McKinley by calling him weak and concerned with only gaining side of the crowd.
Philippine American War
The war that sparks with Spanish and Americans going to the Philippines and fighting for it. Americans won.
Annexation of Hawaii
The purpose of this was so that Hawaiian Sugar plants could favorably compete in the United States markets. Along with a Naval Base
The Tariff of 1894
It put restrictions on sugar imports to the United States, which severely hurt the economy of Cuba which was a Spanish colony. Angry nationalists began a revolt against this.
Teller Amendment (before the War)
The U.S. would help Cuba gain independence and then withdraw all its troops from the country.
Platt Amendment (After the War)
Essentially gave the United States control over Cuban domestic, foreign, and economic policy. Naval bases were also established along with coaling stations in Cuba.
Jones Act (1907)
Puerto Ricans were considered American citizens, but voting rights were changed around.
Foraker Act (1900)
Puerto Rico would be considered unclaimed land and the citizens are now called Puerto Ricans.
Insular Cases
Cases in which were unexplained on whether or not American Territory not in the US would follow the flags laws.

Open Door Policy
America forced China to open its borders to be able to trade with every Nation.
