A

Dred Scott Decision

A

Dred Scott was a slave and his owner took him to a free state. Scott argued he should be free since he was taken to a free state. This was taken to the Supreme Court and they said being taken there did not entitle freedom. He was ruled as not being a citizen and he was not allowed to sue in federal court.
