April Flashcards
Electrodynamic electricity
AC (Alternating Current)
Electrostatic Electricity
DC (Direct Current)
- Reverses direction of flow at r gular intervals
- 3Phase/2Phase
- 230VAC, 60Hz
Alternating Current
unit of frequency
Hertz
give the nema standards
34,500V
35,000V
38,500V
Simple current , alternating in direction. Follows a sine wave and requires only two condictors for its circuit. Most common commercial frequencies are 25, 50 and 60 cycles per scond
Single-Phase Alternating Current
Three seperate currents following seperate sine curves, each at 60cycles per second, but with the peaks of their individual curves one third of a cycle apart. At least three conductors are required for three-phase alternating current.
Three-phase Alternating Current
Is transformer AC or DC?
AC (Alternating current)
complete; continous path of circuit
Close circuit
broken, incomplete, and disconnected
Open circuit
Force which causes movement of electrcity in a conductor
Electromotive force (EMF)
- ito yun PSI parang sa water current
“I” stands for?
Current
Unit for current
Amperes
“V” stands for?
Voltage
Unit for EMF
Volts
“R” stands for?
Resistance
Unit for Resistance
Ohms
pressure or force, unit of electrical pressure or potential
Voltage (Volts)
Formula for Ohm’s law
I=V/R
Unit used to measure the magnitude of an electric current, the specific quantity of electrons passing a point in one second
Amperes (Amps)
current carrying capacity (w/o undue heating)
Ampacity
friction; inherent in insulator. Electricity flowing through a material always meets with some resistance.
Ohms
