Q

Client-centred therapy

A
  • A form of therapy that requires the client to be the one to take control of their sessions, with the therapist acting merely as a guide and/or a source of support.
  • Aims to reduce the gap between the ideal self and the self-concept to congruence through helping the client recognise their own strengths and weaknesses and develop a healthier, more realistic view of themselves.
  • The therapist must provide unconditional positive regard (UPR).
