equilibrium - opening scene established tommy as a great man of status - showing day-to-day running of the shelby‘s gambling operation
disruption - 1. mistaken theft of guns 2. danny accidentally stabbed italian butcher
recognition - 1. tommy tells aunt polly 2. italian gang members see danny kill
repair damage - 1. wants to dispose of the guns 2. kills danny
new equilibrium - 1. tommy decides to keep the guns and is now in control 2. danny‘s death staged, he’s alive and a peaky blinder

how does peaky blinders set up disruption through technical codes?

A

tommy and arthur’s argument:
- the lighting is dim and ambient - focus on their face, like a shadow - build tension
- slow zoom on the alcohol and tommy‘s face to emphasise his expression
- zoom in on tommy‘s face when he approaches and whispers towards arthur
- no music awkward silence to build tension
- unsteady camera on arthur = anxious anger worry
- loud and vibrant in betting shop, but when they shut the door, it turns silent

tommy confesses to aunt polly
- extreme close up builds tension and emphasises tommys expression
