Q

sinoatrial node purpose

A

Sinoatrial node sends electrical impulses to atriums to contract.
Also tells Atrioventricular node to tell Purkinje fibres to stimulate contraction of the ventricles

Q

what do Purkinje fibres do

A

Purkinje fibres stimulate outside walls of ventricles to contract

Q

order of events in heart

A

SA node makes atria contract.
at the same time stimulates AV node.
AV node makes ventricles contract by sending an impulse down the septum and bundle of His to the Purkinje fibres lining the walls of the heart.

Q

chemoreceptors

A

sense CO2 in the blood
increase in CO2 concentration=higher heart rate
