People who buy and use a company’s products and services.
Consumerism
Encouraging the purchase of goods and services in increasing volumes.
Developing countries
The worlds’ poorest countries with a low standard of living and quality of life.
Developed countries
The world’s richest countries, where most people have a high standard of living and quality of life.
Emerging countries
Countries that are going through a process or rapid urban growth, such as China and Brazil.
Supply chain
The network of places, people and processes that are produce products before they are sold to consumers.
Outsourcing
Getting businesses in other countries to perform some of your operations, e.g.
Apple using Foxconn for some of its manufacturing.
Primary employment
Jobs that collect raw materials from nature, for example farming or mining.
Secondary employment
Jobs that produce good from raw materials, e.g. manufacturing.
Tertiary employment
Service jobs, in industries such as retail, education, leisure, health, finance, media etc.
Quaternary employment
Jobs that provide specialist information or skills, e.g. ICT, research & development etc.
