Which appendices of the Immigration Rules cover the routes for family members?
A
Appendix FM – a route for partners, parents, and children to enter or remain in the UK on the basis of their family life.
Appendix Victim of Domestic Abuse – a route for settlement for those whose relationship has permanently broken down due to domestic abuse.
Appendix Bereaved Partner – a route for settlement for those whose partner has died.
Appendix Adult Dependent Relative – a route for settlement for adult dependent relatives.

Q
What relationship requirements must be met for partners applying to enter or remain in the UK?
A
- The couple must be married, in a civil partnership, or in a relationship similar to marriage/civil partnership for at least two years (unmarried partners). Fiancé(e)s must be seeking entry to marry.
- Both parties must be over 18 years old.
- They must have met in person.
- They must not be within the prohibited degree of relationship (e.g., siblings).
- The relationship must be genuine and subsisting.
- Any previous relationships must have broken down (e.g., a divorce certificate must be provided if applicable).
- The couple must intend to live together permanently in the UK
