Non-sequitur
Conclusion has no connection or does not follow the evidence
Slippery slope
Assumes that one event with cause a domino effect.
Sign reasoning
Assumes one thing or event is a reliable indicator of another thing or event
False sign reasoning
Assumes something is evidence for the presence of a variety of conditions and situations.
Argument from authority
Assuming a statement is sufficient enough to justify a claim because of said it
Ad populum
Appeals to popular belief
Ad hominem
Irrelevant attack at the person the claim rather than the argument itself
Genetic fallacy
Guilt by association. Assuming the claim is false based on who said it.
Begging the question. Circular reasoning.
Where the conclusion one is attempting to prove sine claim.
Analogy
Compares two like objects concluding that they will resemble each other in respects that are unknown.
False analogy
Compares two unlike each other on significant ways.
Generalization
Making assumptions for a certain members of a class because it is true about the whole.
Hasty generalization
Making assumptions about a class because it is true about a few members.
Argument from cause
Assuming the one condition or event will cause another event.
Argument from false cause
Assumes that one single factor contributes to the cause of an event.
