A
acute inflammation causing acute abdomen and is related to obstruction of the appendix by lymphoid hyperplasia (children) or fecalith (adults)
- periumbilical pain, fever, nausea, McBurney point pain
- rupture–> guarding, rebound tenderness
- complication–> periappendiceal abscess
