Differentiate between a male and female pelvic girdle. This is a Female. Notice that it is Wider and more delicate, adapted for childbirth.
Sacrum & Coccyx
Female: Shorter, wider, and less curved to provide a larger birth canal.
45
Differentiate between a male and female pelvic girdle. This is a Male. Notice that it is Narrower and more robust, designed for strength and support.
Sacrum & Coccyx
• Male: Longer, narrower, and more curved, projecting into the pelvic cavity.
46
Female and male pelvic girdle side by side. Can you differentiate between the two?
Male left, female right

Any picture you see like this from here on out is a femur bone. Identify what’s crossed out

67
Lesser trochanter
68
Linea aspera
69
Lateral condyle
70
Medial condyle
71
Intercondylar fossa (located on the posterior side only, so know the anterior and posterior view)
72
Patellar surface (you can only view this on the anterior side of the femur so first identify the lateral and medial condyle and then you can tell if the femur is anterior or not. Lateral = left, medial = right, head = pointing to right, so if the head is pointing to the right side you are looking at the anterior femur side and the anterior side means lateral = left and medial =right. But if the head is to the left then medial is on the left and lateral is on the right
73
74
This is a picture of a tibia. Identify the crossed out part
Medial condyle
75
Lateral condyle (notice how there are two condyles. Medial and lateral. You know you are looking at the anterior view if you see the “hanging tooth” on the left side. Once you identify the “hanging tooth” you can then identify the medial condyle and left condyle. The “hanging tooth” also lets you know that this is the tibia. The tibia is paired next to the fibula)
76
Tibial tuberosity
77
Medial malleolus (notice that the “hanging tooth” has a name, the Medial malleolus, again, if the Medial malleolus is on the left side you are identifying the anterior view of the tibia)
78
This is a picture of the fibula. Identify the crossed out part
Lateral malleolus (for the practical, this is the ONLY thing you have to identify for the fibula so you should know that when you see this bone and it has a arrow or stamp , whatever on it, it is the lateral malleolus)
79
Talus (notice how the talus is superior and anterior to the calcaneus which is inferior and posterior)
80
Calcaneus
81
Navicular bone
82
Cuboid
83
Medial cuneiform (you can remember that this comes first by remembering that this bone is above the big toe)
84
Middle cuneiform (2nd bone, above 2nd phalange)
85
Lateral cuneiform (3rd bone, above 3rd phalange)
