An appeal before the court raised a jurisdictional issue with regard to civil appeals. The court decided to reserve judgment on that particular issue. It also decided, however, to issue first an explanation of the very substantial changes that had been made to CPR PD 52. Every judge exercising civil jurisdiction and everyone who practiced or appeared in an appeal court would need to be aware of the new requirements, which would take effect from 30 June 2004. ApL
