App/Application
A program designed for you to carry out operations for a specific application. Runs on personal device
Connotation
The meaning or idea behind an element, particular colours. i.e The connotation of red could be love, anger or danger
Target Audience
Specific group of people at which the product or message is aimed
Function
The function of something is its purpose or action. What an app is designed to do
Design
The way that something is made or arranged
Consistency
Keeping a regular pattern, scheme or style
Icon
An electronic image or representation of the app
Element
The pieces that make up a visual design. i.e. Colour, symbol, fonts, words, pictures, etc.
Graphic
Drawings or pictures composed of simple lines & strong colours
Motif
Recurring forms, subjects, themes or ideas in a visual design
Visual
Can be seen & used for illustration
Balance
An arrangement of elements that is in proportion. In balanced design, all elements have a clearly defined relationship to other elements. There is no random placement
Layers
The parts of a composition that include background, middle & foreground
Layout
The order different elements are organised within the design
Symbol
An image that represents something else
