Apologetics Flashcards
1 Peter 3:15-16
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
Why I believe
“I choose to believe the Bible because it’s a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses, they report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies and assert that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.”
Bible Truth
The Bible was written on three different continents. Asia, Africa, and Europe. It was written in three different languages. Mainly Hebrew, some Greek, and a little Aramaic. It was written by over 40 different authors. Kings, Generals, tax collectors, doctors, and historians. Giving us a total 66 books on 100’s of various subjects which were complied over a period of 1500 years. It tells the story of God’s plan to save a people for himself through his son Jesus Christ.
Jesus
The Greatest Man in History… Jesus; Had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He did not live in a castle, yet they called Him Lord, He ruled no nations, yet they called Him King, He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today (Lyle C Rollings III, 2008).
Three Laws of Logic
Law of Identity: P is P
Law of non-contradiction: P is not Non-P
Law of the excluded middle: Either P or Non-P
Transcendental argument
X is the necessary condition of Y
Y therefore X
Ex: a bachelors degree is a necessary condition for a masters degree a masters degree therefore a bachelors degree
