alliteration
repetition of the same sound beginning several words in sequence.
anadiplosis
.. (“doubling back”) the rhetorical repetition of one or several words; specifically, repetition of a word that ends one clause at the beginning of the next. *Men in great place are thrice servants: servants of the sovereign or state; servants of fame; and servants of business
anaphora
..the repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive phrases, clauses or lines.

asyndeton
.. lack of conjunctions between coordinate phrases, clauses, or words. *But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground.
ellipses
the omission from speech or writing of a word or words that are superfluous or able to be understood from contextual clues. (the 3 dots…)
metonymy
substitution of one word for another which it suggests.
*He is a man of the cloth.
metaphor
implied comparison achieved through a figurative use of words; the word is used not in its literal sense, but in one analogous to it.
*Life’s but a walking shadow; a poor player,
onomatopoeia
use of words to imitate natural sounds; accommodation of sound to sense *BOOM
oxymoron
apparent paradox achieved by the juxtaposition of words which seem to contradict one another. *i must be cruel only to be kind
hyperbole
exaggeration for emphasis or for rhetorical effect. *it took one minute to steal my heart
allusion
a figure of speech that refers to a well-known story, event, person, or object in order to make a comparison in the readers’ minds. *He was a real Romeo with the ladies
paradox
an assertion seemingly opposed to common sense, but that may yet have some truth in it.

being abrupt in speech or how you act with someone *when someone asks a question and u rush the answer with like 2 words
impartial
not favoring one side or opinion more than another *a judge in a court case
detatched

having the feeling of losing courage or hope *suicidal person
self-desecrating
( treat something that is sacred with disrespect) treat yourself with disrespect maybe? *drawing funny faces on a picture of Jesus
allusive
a person or piece of work that makes reference to something else *a book that refers to Emily’s writing
acerbic
language or actions which are hostile or sharp (or something with a bitter taste like a lime)
