Attribution Theory
The theory that we explain someones behavior by crediting the situation or the person’s disposition (If you see someone shouting on a train, you may blame their character. [Angry Person])
Fundamental Attribution Error
The tendency for observers to underestimate the impact of the situation and overestimate the impact of a person disposition (Chastising someone else for being late but making excuses for yourself.)
Attitude
Feelings, often influenced by our beliefs, that predispose us to respond in a particular way.
Central Route
Persuade with facts.
Peripheral Route
Persuade through emotion.
Foot-in-the-Door Phenonmenon
Tendency for those who have agreed to smaller tasks to agree to larger ones.
Role
A set of expectations (norms) about a social position.
