Syntax
the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language
Hyperbole
An unrealistic Exaggeration
UnderStatement
The presentation of something as smaller, worse or less important than it actually is
Juxtaposition
things are placed side by side for comparison, often to highlight the contrast between the elements
Allusion
A reference to something well known
Refrain
a verse, a line, a set, or a group of lines that appears at the end of stanza
Anaphora
the repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive sentences, phrases, or clauses.
Parallelism
the repetition of grammatical elements in writing and speaking
Undertone
an attitude that lies under the ostensible tone of a literary work
Paradox
A true statement that contradicts itself
Satire
artful ridicule of folly or vice as a means of exposing or correcting it
Invective
speech or writing that attacks, insults, or denounces a person, topic, or institution.
Antithesis
refers to the juxtaposition of two opposing elements through the parallel grammatical structure
