Verbs should remain in the same tense (past, present, or future) as long as the time frame for each action or state remains the same.
Verb Tense Consistency
n a sentence, the subject and verb must match up in number.
Subject-Verb Agreement
The wrong word is used in the sentence.
Commonly Confused Words
The requirement that any nouns referring to the same idea agree in number to preserve the meaning of the sentence.
Noun Agreement
A clause that contains essential information for the meaning of the sentence (it “restricts” the meaning in some way); therefore, no commas are used
Restrictive Clause
Non-restrictive Clause
A clause that contains extra or non-essential information for the meaning of the sentence; therefore, it should be set off by commas.
