States
A nation or territory considered as an organized political community under one government.
Sovereignty
The authority of a state to govern itself or another state.
Nation-Sates
A soverign state whose citizens are homogenous (the same) in factors such as language.
State-Less Nations
An ethnic group that does not posses it’s own soverign state and is not the majority population in any nation state.
Multinational State
A state that contains two or more national groups where no single group is dominant.
Multistate Nation
A soviergn entity that comprises of two or more nations or states
Autonomous Region
Sections of a nation that have a degree of independence.
Semi-Autonomous Region
A section of a nation that has a degree of independence but still falls under the authority of the central government.
Devolution
The transfer of power to a lower level, especially by the central government.
Shatterbelts
A region caught between stronger colliding external cultural-political forces.
Chokepoints
A point of congestion among critical navigatble passages.
Delimination
Two parties or governments agree on a common boundry.
Demarcation
An agreed upon boundry is physically established.
Demilitarized Zones
A treaty prohibits military installations in between states.
Unitary State
A state in which most or all the governing power resides in a centralized government.
