Desdemona + LM = drive husbands to madness because too independent
Othello + Macbeth = both military men who value reputation
Iago + Macbeth = driven to kill by desire to climb social ladder
jealous y as a destructive force/something that drives characters to madness
- Duncan: “noble Macbeth, hath won”

Both Desdemona and Othello’s relationship and Hero and Claudio’s relationship are idealistic
comparing these to Benedick and Beatrice we can see it isn’t true love as this couple look past each others flaws to see the love beneath.

- to marry her, if her dowry please” (1, 2, 183). This is stating that he will marry her if the amount of money he offers is enough for her father to approve their marriage

  • nobles in Hamlet speek in blank verse, Othello speaks in Prose often.
  • Hamlet is often alone when he delivers soliloquies, Gertrude has a closet
