Q

define moral responsibility

A
  • an individual is in charge of their own actions = behaviour is self-determined
  • the law states that children and the mentally ill don’t have responsibility everyone else does

Q

the humanistic approach on free will
what does it suggest?

A
  • rogers 1959 = as long as an individual remains controlled by casual factors they cannot take responsibility for their own behaviour and so can’t change it
  • only when responsibility is taken self actualisation is possible
  • humanism is praised as a positive approach = sees people as free to give them a chance to better themselves
