Flumazenil is the antidote for benzodiazepine overdose. It competes with benzodiazepines for benzodiazepine receptors and reverses toxicity. Cardiopulmonary supportive measures may be required.
When administering benzodiazepines to patients with malnutrition or liver disease, the nurse should monitor carefully for toxicity withdrawal paradoxical excitation seizures
