Amoxicillin 500mg, 3xday, 5days

Metronidazole 400mg, 3x daily, 5 days

Metronidazole 400mg 3xdaily, days

What antimicrobials given to patient with Aggressive perio?
A
Amoxicillin 500mg, TDS + metronidazole 400mg TDS, for 7 days
or
Doxycyline 200mg loading dose then 100mg OD for 21 days

What is the mode of action of periostat?
A
Doxycyline hyclate subanitmicrobial dose stops collagenase and osteoclast function 20mg 2xdaily for 1-3 months 3/12 break before repeating no more than 3 courses
