What are adverse reactions of antimalarials?

  • Ocular toxicity (retinal and corneal deposits)
  • Rash, which can be Steven-Johnson syndrome or other serious rash
  • Hair damage or loss
  • GI upset
  • Hypertension and ECG changes
  • Ototoxicity (also seen in exposed foetus)
  • Bone marrow suppression
  • Psychosis
