No she says that there is no sorrow or harm and no circumstance of scandal or of shame.
How did their brothers die?
they died by killing each other.
What is the conflict about their brother’s burials?
One brother was buried, while the other was left to rot outside without burial.
What does Antigone want to do for her brother?
bury him like he deserves. Go against Creon.
Does Ismene agree at first to help?
no she is rather baffled.
Why will Ismene not help?
she realizes that men rule the society and they cannot challenge a man’s view.
Why is Antigone not afraid to do this?
she knows that death is honor, and the honorable thing to do is bury the dead. She is not afraid to go against power because she will be laying next to her brother.
What does Creon say that the one brother who will not be buried did?
he came back to the land after being banished and he worked to spill the blood of his family or sell them to slavery.
What does Sentinel come into the scene to tell Creon?
that someone has buried the brother.
What was the situation when the Sentinel came upon the buried man?
There were no footprints or track that led to distinguish who had done it. It definately was not an animal.
What does Creon want from the Sentinel?
He wants the sentinel to find the man who did this, or he would receive punishment
Does Sentinel find Antigone?
yes he does and he brings her to Creon.
Does Creon believe that Sentinel caught this woman in the act?
no not at all, and he questions it many times.
How did the Snetinel Catch Antigone?
he catches antigone when he and a couple other men are at the burial site. There is a storm that blows through, and they see Antigone standing there, and then start throwing dirt on the body.
What was Antigone’s argument for overstepping her boundaries?
he was not Zeus.
Who else does Creon bring in to punish for this crime?
Ismene.
What does Creon say is shameful?
he says going against orders for a traiterous brother is shameful.
How does Antigone backfire?
she says that family deserves respect.
What does Ismene say when Creon challenges her about involvement?
she says that she helped do it.
Why is Antigone getting angry with Isemen?
Ismene is trying to take credit for doing an honorable things when she really did nothing.
How does Ismene argue about the death sentence of Antigone?
She says that he wont kill his son’s own future wife.
Why does Ismene say she did it with Antigone?
she could not live without her sister.

They are taken away with a guard.

Creon is saying tjat he wants to be the sole monarch and what he says goes. This is extremely childish because there are more people he has to care about than just himself.
How is Creon going to kill Antigone?
he is going to bury her to death under rocks in the dessert.

she says she is following her family to the grave.

her mother, father, and brother for she was the one who cared for their graves and dead bodies when they were dead.

he says that he will not live for much longer
Why does Tiresias say he is not following God’s rules?
he is leaving a man unbearied with him sole still in tact.
What is Creon convinced to do?
he is convinced to set Antigone free and give her brother a proper burial.
What happened to Antigone, and Haemon?
they are killed, Haemon by his own sword. Antigone by hanging
How dod antigone and haemon look when found?
they are holding hands.
How did haemon die?
Creon walked in and saw Haemon. He told him to get out and he refused. He drew his sword to get the marriage rights, which he received as he killed himself from Hade.
What happens when Creon returns with Haemon?
he is in mourning, and his wife has killed herself.
What does Creon hope for in the near future?
he hopes for death.
