A
Can grow as yeasts (single cell) or molds (multicellular aggregates).

Asexual - imperfect state; divide by mitosis
Sexual - perfect state; divide by meiosis after fusion

A
From environment. Exception: Candida thrush - transmitted from maternal genital track during birth.

What is the difference b/w dermatomycoses and onychomycoses?
A
Dermatomycoses - live in keratinized tissue.
Onchomycoses - subtype; live in keratin on NAILS
