- dry mouth
- sedation
- nausea
- photosensitivity
- increased risk of suicide in children/adolescents
- decreased libido
- hypotension
- tachycardia. arrhythmias
- hypertensive crisis w/ MAOIs and tyramine
- serotonin syndrome

Antidepressants indications
A
dysthymia (depression), major depressive disorder, alcoholism, schizophrenia, intellectual disability, depressive phase of bipolar disorder, depression accompanied by anxiety

symptoms of serotonin syndrome
A
- convulsions
- psychosis
- high fever
- seizure precautions, monitor I/O, cooling blankets
- usually resolves when the offending agent is promptly DCs - can be fatal without intervention

MAOIs discontinue time frame
A
cannot take new antidepressant for 10-14 days after discontinuing MAOIs

hypertensive crisis symptoms:

- occipital headache
- hypertension
- nausea, sweating, clammy skin
- dilated pupils
- chest pain
