Heparin therapeutic uses

A

-Preferred anticoagulation during pregnancy and when rapid anticoagulation is required.
-Pulmonary embolism (PE)
-Stroke evolving
-Massive DVT
-Open heart surgery
-Renal dialysis- keeps clots from forming. Can be run through equipment.
-Low dose therapy postoperatively
-Disseminated intravascular coagulation
-Adjunct to thrombolytic therapy.
