  • dry as a bone (decreased secretions -> dry mucous membranes/skin)
  • blind as a bat (mydriasis/dilation and cycloplegia/loss of accomodation)
  • red as a beet
  • hot as a hare (loss of sweat glands)
  • full as a flask (urinary retention)
