Q

How can we compare different antibiotics using paper discs?

A
  1. Soak same sized discs in a different antibiotics.
  2. Spread bacteria in agar plate.
  3. Place discs into agar plate.
  4. Incubate agar plate (keep warm) to grow bacteria.
  5. Observe plate - largest clear zone = best antibiotic.
  6. Repeat to make more reliable.

Q

Explain how antibiotic resistant bacteria develop by natural selection.

A

Random Mutation causes…
Variation (some resistant some not) this gives some an…
Advantage (resistant survive when antibiotic used) so they..
Survive and…
Reproduce and their…
