Antibiotics Flashcards

1
Q

Classification of antibiotics

A

1- cell wall synthesis inhibitors

1- beat lactam ( penicillin, cephalosporins, carbapenem and monobactam)
2- glycoproteins like vancomycin
3- not classified like batricin

Cell membran distributors like daptomycin and Polymyxin B

2- protein synthesis inhibitors
30 s units ( aminoglycosides , tigecycline and tetracycline)
50s units. ( clindamycin , linzolide , chloramphenicol, macrolides and streptogramines )

3- Nucleic acid synthesis inhibitors
Direct act on DNA ( quinolone)
Inhibit float like bactrim
Creat free radicals like Nitrofurantion and metronidazole
