COPD exacerbation
Amoxicillin or tetracycline or clarithromycin
Uncomplicated CA pneumonia
Amoxicillin
Doxy or clarithromycin if pen allergy
Add fluclox if staph expected (eg in influenza)
Atypical pneumonia
Clarithromycin
Hospital acquired pneumonia
5 days admission - piperacillin + tazobactam (tazocin) OR quinolone
LUTI
Trimethoprim or nitrofurantion
Alt - amoxicillin or cephalosporin
Acute pyelonephritis
Broad spec ceph or quinolone
Acute prostatitis
Quinolone or trimethoprim
Impetgo
Topical fusidic acid
PO fluclox or erythromycin if widespread
Cellulitis
Flucloxacillin (clarithromycin or clindamycin if pen allergy)
Erysipelas
Phenoxymethylpenicillin (erythromycin if pen allergy)
Animal or human bite
Co-amoxiclav (doxy + metronidazole if pen allergy)
Throat infection
Phenoxymethylpenicillin
Sinusitis
Amoxicillin or doxy or erythromycin
Otitis media
Amoxicillin (only if >3 days or severe or risk factors or <2y)
Otitis externa
Flucloxacillin PO if systemically unwell
If mild - topical abx (neomycin) + steroid
