Recommended treatment for uncomplicated CAP?
Amoxicillin (doxy or clarith if penicillin allergic, add fluclox if suspected staphyloccoci)
Pneumonia caused by atypical pathogens?
Clarithromycin
HAP?
- Within 5 days admission: co-amox or cefuroxime
- > 5 days after admission: tazocin or broad spec cephalo (e.g. ceftaz) or quinolone (e.g. cipro)
Lower UTI?
Nitro or trimeth (alt= amox or cephalo)
Acute pyelonephritis?
Broad spec cephalo or quinolone
Acute prostatitis?
Quinolone or trimeth
Impetigo?
- Topical hydrogen peroxide
- Oral fluclox or erythro if wide spread
Cellulitis?
Fluclox (clarith, erythro or dozy if pen allergic)
Cellulitis (near eyes or nose)?
Co-amox (clarith+ metro if pen allergic)
Erysipelas?
Fluclox (clarith, eryth or doxy in pen all)
Animal or human bite?
Co-amox (doxy+ metro if pen all)
Mastitis?
