Q

Does Wiles believe in God and how does it link to miracles?

A

He does believe in God but rejected the idea of God being responsible for miracles from a moral perspective. A God that intervenes in some but not all evil isn’t worthy of worship.

Q

Does Wiles believe any miracles have ever occured?

A

Yes, creation.
God doesn’t have to keep doing miracles as otherwise he isn’t a good God (only helping some and not others).
As he made the world he would’ve made the natural laws so is odd to break them.

Q

Briefly explain Tillich’s view.

A

He believes that God doesn’t cause miracles in the world. He believes God exists beyond our understanding so we shouldn’t try to objectively understand miracles.
