Anti Ice needed???

When is Cowl anti ice needed during TAXI?

Answer 1

When OAT is 10 or less

AND

visible moisture is present (FG or BR with vis less than or equal to 1sm, rain, snow, sleet, ice crystals)

Or

operating on surfaces with ice, snow, standing water, slush

Question 2

When is Wing anti ice needed during TAXI?

Answer 2

No type II or IV deice applied and OAT at or below 5 regardless of visible moisture or not

turn on at least two minutes prior to T/O and then turn it off just before T/O

if you have type II or IV turn on wings anti ice just before take off

Question 3

When is Cowl anti ice needed for TAKE OFF?

Answer 3

OAT equal to or less than 10 with visible moisture or runway contaminated

Question 4

When is WING anti ice needed for TAKE OFF?

Answer 4

OAT equal to or less than 5 with visible moisture in any form, or clouds below 400agl,

runway is wet or contaminated

both wing and cowls are required

Anti Ice during Flight?

Answer 5

ICE annunciated= WING and COWL Anti ice

COWL when flying in icing conditions

WINGS if flying in icing conditions below 230KIAS

WINGS if in icing conditions during descent

WINGS if TAT is 10 or less prior to extending flaps for all approaches (can be turned back off if conditions permit)

Question 6

Cold WX inspection is needed when?

Answer 6

OAT 5 or less
Wing fuel temp 0 or less
Conditions conducive to icing
remained overnight and may have frozen contaminants
Picked up ice on a through flight
Cold soak ice is suspected

This inspection must take place within 30min of push
