anti friction part b Flashcards
What is internal clearance?
The internal clearance in a bearing is the total amount of clearance between the rolling elements and the raceway
Never heat a bearing over
and never heat a sealed bearing above ?
120C(248F)
80 degrees C (175 degrees F (sealed)
What is Residual clearance?
internal clearance (radial or axial) in a bearing after its been mounted
When hot, mounting bearings heat the bearing to what temperature
heat the housing to about 80 C.
What is run in clearance?
radial or axial clearance in a bearing after its been running at operating temp
Pre-load is not clearance true or false
true- It is the load the rolling elements are under before any external load is applied. (axial load).
When is pre-load applied
When the operating load is too light to make the rolling elements roll properly
