Surface Deice operation:
Single cycle
-6 seconds of wind inflation and 4 secs on tail
Manual Mode
-All boots inflate as long as you hold the switch
What action should be taken if the boots don’t deflate?
Pull the CB

Minimum temp for boot operation:
-40F/C
Optimum ice accumulation for boot operation:
1/2 to 1” thickness
Brake Deice Operation
Hot P3 air is routed into brake assembly. Temp hottest during t/o and climb.
Turn system on during climb out, if system does not automatically turn off after 10 minutes, move toggle switch to OFF
What does the Brake deice circuit breaker provide power to?
Brake deice valves
BRAKE DEICE light
10 minute timer
What is the biggest single user of P3 air on the King Air?
The brake deice!
Brake deice limitations:
Do not operate above 15C
Rudder boost may not operate during brake deice operation
Automatic Prop Deice:
Power shows on prop ammeter
Changes sides every 90 secs
Watch for changes in amps
Manual Prop Deice:
Works when you HOLD the switch up
Doesn’t show on the prop ammeter
Power draw reads on load meters
Pitot heat
Do not run on ground
Switch circuit breakers
Stall Warning
Heated vane assemblies
Switch circuit breaker
On ground, the left safety switch reduces amount of heat generated
Windshield Deice
Norm: entire windshield heated
HI: only from straight ahead to outer side heated
Fuel Vents (2)
Flame arrestor incorporated to prevent ignition source from being ingested
Air Intake Anti-Ice
Prevents buildup of ice on intake lips
Automatic using exhaust gas
Ice Vanes
Engines are susceptible to FOD damage, engine anti-ice is ALWAYS on (extended) on ground.
- Ice vanes should be extended in visible moisture below 5C
- Monitor Oil Temp, may rise
Ice vane extension/retraction time
12 seconds, if annunciator shows, give additional 12 seconds

Reduce airspeed to 140-160
Pull manual extension handle
Windshield wipers
Two speed system
OFF- coast to position
PARK-returns to upright position
DO NOT USE ON DRY WINDSHIELD
Auto-ignition
Attempts immediate relight if engine flames-out
When does the auto-ignition system activate?
When torque drops below 400ft/lbs
