Anti-arrhythmic Flashcards
Digoxin
MOA: Inhibits Na+/K+ ATPase –> increased intracellular Ca2+ –> increased contractility.
Clinical uses: CHF, atrial tachycardias
Toxicity: Arrhythmias, visual disturbances
Carefully monitor w/ anti-coagulatns
Procainamide
Anti arrhythmic class IA
MOA: Inhibit Na+ Channels
Treats: Atrial and ventricular tachycardias
Toxicity: Arrhythmias, hypersensitivity reactions - drug induced SLE
DDIs (drug-drug interaction) with proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole and esomeprazole).
Lidocaine
Anti arrhythmic class IB
MOA: Inhibit Na+ Channels
Treats: ventricular tachycardias
Toxicity: CNS
DDIs: NSAIDs, acetazolamide, corticosteroids, spironolactone
Flecainide
Anti arrhythmic class IC
MOA: Inhibit Na+ Channels
Treats: atrial tachycardias in patients w/ normal ventricular function
Toxicity: Arrhythmias
DDIs: Isolated from streptococci
Metoprolol
Anti-arrhythmic class II
MOA: Beta-1 antagonist (propanolol is non-selective beta-antagonist)
Treats: Atrial and ventricular tachycardia
Amiodarone
Anti arrhythmic Class III
