A
- inflammation of iris and ciliary body
- associated with HLA-B27

Features of anterior uveitis
A
- acute onset
- ocular discomfort and pain (increase with use)
- pupil maybe small
- photophobia (often intense)
- blurred vision
- red eye
- lacrimation
- ciliary flush
- hypopyon
- visual acuity is initially normal and then gets impaired

associated conditions
A
- ankylosing spondylitis
- reactive arthritis
- ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease
- Behçet’s disease
- Sarcoidosis

Management
A
- urgent review by ophthalmologist
- Atropine and cyclopentolate (cycloplegics- dilates pupil)
- steroid eye drops
