Anterior Triangle of the Neck Flashcards
1
Q
Boundaries of the Anterior Triangle:
A
*Anterior boundary : median line of the neck
*Posterior boundary : anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle
*Superior boundary (base) : inferior border of the mandible

Q
B. Subdivisions of the anterior triangle:
*For more precise localization of structures, the anterior cervical region is subdivided into four smaller triangles:
A
- Muscular Δ - anterior aspect below the hyoid bone
- contains the infrahyoid strap muscles - Carotid Δ - between sup. omohyoid , post. digastric and SCM
- contains brs. of external carotid a. and CN X, XI, XII - Submandibular Δ - between mandible and digastric bellies
- contains submandibular salivary gland, lingual and facial aa., CN XII - Submental Δ - a midline structure below the chin
- bounded by ant. digastric bellies and body of hyoid bone
