O: iliac crest, posterior to ASIS
I: iliotibial tract
A: flex thigh, medially rotate thigh, abduct thigh
Inn: superior gluteal N (L4-S1)
Sartorius
O: ASIS
I: medial surface of proximal tibia, distal to tibial tuberosity
A: flex thigh, abduct thigh, laterally rotate thigh; flex leg
Inn: femoral (L2-3)
Rectus femoris
O: AIIS, ilium above acetabulum
I: patella through patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
A: extend leg, flex thigh
Inn: femoral (L2-4)
Vastus medialis
O: medial lip of linea aspera; lower part of intertrochanteric line
I: patella through patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
A: extend leg
Inn: femoral (L2-4)
Vastus lateralis
O: lateral lip of linea aspera of femur; limited origin from intertrochanteric line
I: patella through patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
A: extend leg
Inn: femoral (L2-4)
Vastus intermedius
O: anterior and lateral surfaces of femur
I: patella through patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
A: extend leg
Inn: femoral (L2-4)
Articularis genus
O: distal part of anterior surface of femur
I: synovial membrane of knee joint
A: pulls synovial membrane of knee proximally during extension of leg
Inn: femoral N (L3-4)
Psoas major
O: bodies and TPs of all lumbar vertebrae
I: lesser trochanter of femur
A: flex thigh, slight adduct thigh of free limb
Inn: anterior rami L2-4
Iliacus
O: iliac fossa
I: lesser trochanter of femur
A: flex thigh, slight adduct thigh of free limb
Inn: femoral N (L2-4)
Psoas minor
O: T12-L1 vertebrae
I: lesser trochanter of femur
A: upward rotation of pelvis
Inn: L1 or L2 or both
Pectineus
O: superior ramus of pubis
I: femur just distal to lesser trochanter
A: flex thigh, adduct thigh
Inn: femoral N (possibly obturator or accessory obturator) (L2-3)
