1
Q

Q

What is a provisional crown?

A

Made to last for longer period while other assessment of teeth is carried out e.g. while periodontal treatment is completed (e.g. to allow the outcome of endodontic or periodontal treatment to be evaluated)

Q

What are the Biological requirements of a temporary restoration?

A
  • Protective prepared dentine
  • Prevent gingival tissue from overgrowing preparation margins
  • Prevent over-eruption from over-eruption or tilting of prepared tooth thereby maintaining contact points and occlusion
  • Protect periodontal regions (exact marginal fit, polish ability and biocompatibility) to rule out consequential damage to the gingiva and bone

Q

What are the mechanical requirements of a temporary restoration?

A

Strong enough to withstand forces of occlusion and mastication without fracturing (improves quality of life for the patient)

Q

What are the aesthetic requirements of a temporary restoration?

A
  • Provide reasonable shade match to remaining natural dentition
  • Surface topography that is similar to remaining natural teeth

Q

What should you check on the prepared tooth?

A
  • make sure no sharp angles
  • check intercuspal clearance is sufficient for the placement of the temporary crown
  • the cervical margins to check no undercuts

Q

What type of material is Trim?

A
