What is LMP?
**Last menstrual period **(LMP) refers to the date of the first day of the most recent menstrual period.
What does Gestational age mean?
Gestational age (GA) refers to the duration of the pregnancy starting from the date of the last menstrual period
What does EDD mean?
Estimated date of delivery (EDD) refers to the estimated date of delivery (40 weeks gestation)
What does Gravida refer to?
Gravida (G) is the total number of pregnancies a woman has had
What does Primigravida mean?
Primigravida refers to a patient that is pregnant for the first time
What does Mulitgravida mean?
Multigravida refers to a patient that is pregnant for at least the second time
What does Para (p) refer to?
A parity score of “para X + Y” is a way to record a woman’s obstetric history, where:
X: Is the number of pregnancies that resulted in live births
Y: Is the number of losses before 24 weeks, such as miscarriages, terminations, or ectopic pregnancies
What does nulliparous mean?
Nulliparous (“nullip”) refers to a patient that has never given birth after 24 weeks gestation
What is multiparous?
Multiparous (“multip”) refers to a patient that has given birth after 24 weeks gestation two or more times
Gestational age is described in weeks + days.
How would you write for a woman who is 13 weeks and 6 days gestational age?
13+6
How would you write the gravidity and para for a non pregnant woman with a previous birth of healthy twins.

Pregnancy is split into 3 trimesters.
When is the first trimester?
From the start of pregnancy-12 weeks gestation
When is the second trimester?
From 13 weeks-26 weeks
When is the third trimester?
From 27 weeks until birth
