What are the requirements for animals to be accepted into a slaughter house?
Be properly identify
Be accompanied by relevant documentation (FCI)
Not come from areas under disease control with movement restrictions unless the Competent Authority so permits
Be clean and healthy
As far as the FBO can judge
Be in a satisfactory state as regards to welfare
What must FBO do if an animal doesn’t comply to these?
Notify OV
Isolate animal for further investigation
What are the categories of cleanliness?
1 - Clean and Dry
2 - Slightly dirty
3 - Dirty
4 - Very dirty
5 - Filthy and wet

Accepted for slaughter without any special treatment
Dry
Clean with regard to dung/dirt
Very minor amounts of loosely adherent straw/bedding
Slightly Dirty criteria
Accepted for slaughter without any special treatment
Dry/damp
Light contamination with dirt/dung
Small amounts of loosely adherent straw/bedding
Dirty Criteria
Will be rejected for slaughter except in circumstances which are exceptional

Significant contamination with dirt/dung

Will be rejected for slaughter except in circumstances which are exceptional
