- 1938 Hitler forced schuschnigg to appoint nazis
- schuschnigg then held a referendum
- Hitler ordered him to resign replaced by seyss-inquart
- seyss inquart then ordered the nazis to move in unopposed
- a vote was then held after hitler announced the anschluss in wchich 99% agreed
