ANS - Receptors Flashcards
What are the functional muscarinic receptors?
M1R M2R M3R M4R and M5R are not useful
What part of the ANS has muscarinic receptors?
parasympathetic
What part of the Ans has nicotinic receptors stimulated by norepinephrine?
sympathetic
What does M1R do? What class is it?
Gq-coupled (increase Ca2+) -CNS control (not ANS) -Secretion of salivary glands (increase) -Secretion of Stomach acid (increase KEY: SECRETION
What does M2R do? What class is it?
Gi-coupled (decrease cAMP and increase K+ — hyperpolarize) -HEART!!!! -Decrease HR
What does M3R do? What class is it?
Gq-coupled (increase Ca2+) CONTRACTION & SECRETION -Smooth muscle contraction -Exocrine secretion
What does the alpha-1 adrenergic receptor do? What class is it?
Gq-coupled —– super fight or flight -Vasoconstriction (blood vessels – increase bp) -pupil dilation -lipolysis and glycogenolysis (energy) -decrease tears
What does the alpha-2 adrenergic receptor do? What class is it?
- Gi-coupled
- Vasodilation (blood vessels)
- GI relax
- Pancreas (increase glucagon, decrease insulin)
- INCREASED CLOTTING
- Decrease salivation
What does the beta-1 adrenergic receptor do? What class is it?
Gs-coupled (increase cAMP and adenylate cyclase)
HEART!!!
- Increase HR
- Inrease force of contraction
What does the beta-2 adrenergic receptor do? What class is it?
Gs-coupled
- Brachiodilation
- Smooth muscle relax
- Flattens pupil to see farther/focus
What does the beta-3 adrenergic receptor do? What class is it?
Gs-coupled
White fat breakdown (lipolysis)
Brown fat breakdown for thermoregulation
