Ankle/Subtalar Flashcards
Origin of the Tibialis Anterior
Lateral condyle/upper tibia and IM
Insertion of the Tibialis Anterior
Tendons wrap to inferior surface: Medial CF and base of 1st MT
Action of the Tibialis anterior
Dorsiflexion the ankle joint; inverts foot at subtalar joint
Innervation of the Tibialis Anterior
Deep Fibular N (Branch from common peroneal n)
Origin of the Fibularis (peroneus) Longus
Head and proximal 1/2 fibula
Insertion of the Fibularis (peroneus) Longus
Tendon curves under foot to base of 1st MT and 1st CF (lateral aspects of each) Supports arch
Action of the Fibularis (peroneus) longus
Everts foot; plantarflexes ankle
Innervation of the Fibularis (peroneus) longus
Superficial Peroneal (Fibular) nerve
Origin of the Fibularis (peroneus) brevis
Distal 1⁄2 lateral fibula
Insertion of the Fibularis (peroneus) brevis
Tendons run behind lateral malleolus; inserts on dorsal surface of base of 5th MT (tuberosity)
Action of the Fibularis (peroneus) brevis
Everts the foot at subtalar joint; plantarflexes at the ankle
Innervation of the Fibularis (peroneus) brevis
Superficial Fibular nerve
Posterior Compartment
TOM DICK AND HARRY
Anterior Compartment
TOM HARRY AND DICK
Origin of the Soleus
Soleal line of the tibia and the head and proximal 1/3 of the fibula
