Inversion Stress Test
tests ATF and calcaneofibular lig
pt lies on UNINVOLVED side, involved side hanging off plinth. stabilize distal tibia, rock talus into inversion
look for inc laxity and lack of a firm endfeel in comparison to the other side
Thompson Test
Tests for Achilles Tendon Rupture
pt lies prone with feet off plinth. squeeze the gastroc - soleus, look for slight PF
Pos Test if no PF - possible rupture
Homan’s Sign
Tests for DVT
look for redness, swelling, warmth, pain
pt seated, leg hanging off of plinth. hold pts foot in DF, and palpates the calf and popliteal space for “chords”
Pos for DVT when pain in DF or palpation
Tinel’s Sign
Tests for Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
pt seated with leg hanging off of the plinth - bring foot into PF and eversion. tap along post tibial n - post to med malleolus
Pos is pain/tingling along the nerve distribution
Ant Drawer Test
lig laxity in the ATF
pt seated with leg off the table, slight PF. stabilize tib and fib, with other hand, draw calcaneus ant
compare to the other side to look for ATF sprain
