Answer 1

1. Patient is seen within 10 days after ankle injury
2. Pain in the ‘malleolar zone’ ….. PLUS

• Unable to bear weight for 4 steps immediately after injury and at time of clinical assessment
  OR
• Bone tenderness at posterior edge or tip of either malleolus

What are the Ottawa foot rules?

Answer 2

1. Patient is seen within 10 days after ankle injury
2. Pain in the ‘midfoot zone’….. PLUS

• Unable to bear weight for 4 steps immediately after injury and at the time of clinical assessment
  OR
• Bone tenderness at the navicular or base of 5th metatarsal
